It also holds a well-preserved 1940 Treasury Section of Fine Arts mural by Mary Earley showing the local anti-rent wars.","narrative":"Delhi's post office, at 10 Court Street on Courthouse Square, is a symmetrical one-story brick building completed in 1938-9. It follows a standard Colonial Revival design by the Treasury Department under Supervising Architect Louis A. Simon, and the James A. Barnes Company of North Carolina won the construction contract. Granite steps lead to a pair of wood doors framed by fluted Doric columns, topped by a blind fanlight with a cast aluminum eagle. A copper-clad gable roof carries a square cupola. Inside, the L-shaped lobby keeps its original tile floor and wainscoting, plaster walls and wood teller screen. The same design was used for thirteen nearly identical post offices in New York State, the largest related group in the state. Above the postmaster's office door hangs a 1940 mural by Mary Earley, The Down-Rent War, Around 1845, which depicts the anti-rent wars, the most important event in Delhi's history. The building is also part of the Delaware County Courthouse Square Historic District.","period_of_significance":"1938-9; 1940","architect_builder":"Treasury Department; Louis A.
