It is especially noteworthy for its pedimented window and door surrounds with jig-sawn applique and its gabled dormers. Few alterations detract from its historic integrity.","narrative":"Built around 1880 in a residential area east of Cuero's central business district, this 1 1/2-story frame house follows an L plan. It has weatherboard siding, a gable roof with composition shingles, and double-hung wood windows with two-over-two lights. A three-bay porch is inset on the north elevation, with box columns, molded caps and jig-sawn brackets. Gabled dormers sit off center above the facade, and the gable ends have kicked eaves. The pedimented door and window surrounds carry geometric jig-sawn applique. Tax rolls show that John Muti owned the house, as he did its neighbor at 607 East Live Oak, until 1898, when A. Ratti appears as owner. The house was recognized as one of Cuero's earliest and most outstanding L-plan dwellings, chiefly for its architectural character. Its decorative surrounds and dormers are singled out, and few alterations detract from its historic integrity. It remains in good condition and is still used as a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"L-plan dwelling","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present condition is listed as good, and the present use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.229642-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/6/9688/40968806/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/88001968.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/88001968/deaa86a634-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/88001968/deaa86a634-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"25or6to4","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:609_East_Live_Oak,_Cuero,_Texas.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">25or6to4</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:609_East_Live_Oak,_Cuero,_Texas.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968806","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000793"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/dewitt-county/house-at-609-east-live-oak-88001968/"}
