It is also significant under Criterion C for architecture, with good examples of Early Twentieth Century Period Revival styles and types such as Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, Four Square and bungalow-influenced houses.","narrative":"Cable Park is a two-block residential district along Wayne Street in Sandusky, Ohio, between Scott and Cable Streets. Its 47 buildings, mostly single-family houses, were built between 1905 and 1938, with most dating from the 1920s. The land was the former Erie County Fairgrounds, bought in 1900 by Laurence Cable, and his sons Edward and Frank carried out the plan after his death in 1904. Wayne Street was split into a boulevard with a grassy, tree-planted center strip and street lamps. Lots had to be at least 45 feet wide, houses were set back 34 feet, businesses were barred, and garages were reached from rear alleys. The district was meant to serve the upper middle class at a time when Sandusky had no zoning. Houses include Four Squares, Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival and Cape Cod types, several designed by architects. It was listed for community planning and for architecture, and it keeps its original setbacks, plans and landscaping.","period_of_significance":"1905-1938","architect_builder":"Various; architects named include Millott & Parker, Walker & Weeks, O'Donnell & Wolfe, and C.
