Its 1860s Picturesque additions show the common practice of updating older, modest buildings. The surviving late nineteenth century farm outbuildings and much of the original acreage reflect the town's agricultural history.","narrative":"Set on a 44.13-acre farm along East Road, about half a mile south of Cazenovia village, this farmhouse dates to around 1820. It is a one and one-half story rectangular frame building with a gable roof and a rear lean-to that gives it the traditional salt-box profile. The three-bay facade has a central entrance, six-over-six windows and simple wood trim. In the 1860s the house was updated with a center cross gable, exposed rafters and a Gothic-inspired front verandah. Inside, two front parlors flank a steep staircase around a central chimney, an arrangement more typical of New England than central New York. The farm retains a cattle barn, a horse and carriage barn, a corn crib and a wagon shed from the late nineteenth century. Together they illustrate local farming, including the shift toward dairying. The builder and first owner are unknown; the name comes from J. A. Parker, listed on an 1875 atlas.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular New England \"salt-box\" farmhouse with 1860s Picturesque/Gothic Revival-inspired ornament","criteria":[],"status_note":"Described as in good condition and in residential use, the same as its original use; no threats to the building are known.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:45.675359-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/87001872.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75313501","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parker_Farmhouse_(Cazenovia,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7138300"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/madison-county/parker-farmhouse-87001872/"}
