Louisiana in McKinney was built around 1880 in the Queen Anne style, and a Classical Revival porch was added in 1902. It has weatherboard siding, a hip roof, a three-story octagonal turret with a bell-cast roof, hipped dormers with shingle facing, and a wraparound porch with fluted Composite columns and a two-story Neoclassical portico. Leaded glass appears in the basement windows. The house was restored in the early 1980s and is in excellent condition. It was built by L. A. Scott, a former railroad agent and merchant who became one of McKinney's leading businessmen. He served as president and general manager of the McKinney Ice and Coal Co., was president of the Collin County National Bank for 25 years, and sat on the school board for over 20 years. A junior high school was named for him. The house is valued as a rare local blend of two architectural styles.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Unknown (built by L. A.
