Waddill in McKinney, Texas, dates to about 1920 and reflects the Colonial Revival style. It has a center-passage plan, weatherboard siding, a gable roof with box eaves, and wood double-hung windows with six-over-one lights. The single-door entrance has sidelights, and an entry portico with a Doric entablature marks the east elevation. Three pedimented dormers and a sleeping porch complete the design. A brick chimney with a corbeled cap rises inside the house. It sits in a residential area of early twentieth-century houses about ten blocks west of the central business district. It was built for Sam Neathery, who was elected Collin County attorney in 1915 and served two terms. He later served on the University of Texas Board of Regents, moved to Houston, and sold the house in 1934. The house was listed for its architecture, as one of the best local examples of Colonial Revival design. Its architect is unknown, and the date of its ground floor alterations is not recorded.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival-style dwelling","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present condition is listed as good, and the present use is residential.
