Church in McKinney, Collin County, Texas, built about 1887 by Joe H. and Clara Crouch. The architect or builder is unknown.","why_significant":"The house is cited for its architecture as one of McKinney's best examples of Queen Anne detailing, a popular style in the late nineteenth century. It keeps almost all of its original detailing, including intricate turned porch woodwork and a keyhole window near the main entrance.","narrative":"Built around 1887 at 205 N. Church Street in McKinney, this one-and-a-half-story frame house was constructed by Joe H. and Clara Crouch soon after their marriage. In 1906 they sold it to businessman F. Dudley Perkins and his wife Daisy, who owned it until 1919. The house has an asymmetrical plan, weatherboard siding, a clipped gable roof, and wood double-hung windows. Decorative features include turned-wood porch posts and balusters, jigsawn brackets and sunburst motifs, dentils, cresting, imbricated shingles in the gable ends, and an octagonal turret with a finial. A keyhole window sits near the main entrance. The property was recognized for its architecture because it remains one of the city's best examples of Queen Anne styling, a popular mode in late nineteenth-century McKinney. Although louvered blinds obscure the windows of the corner tower, the house retains almost all of its original detailing. It sits in a mixed residential and commercial area one block northwest of the central business district.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne-style dwelling","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in good condition and in residential use at the time of the 1985 survey.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.526928-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/91/9685/40968591/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/87001691.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001691/b5d3f656b5-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001691/b5d3f656b5-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Michael Barera","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:McKinney_April_2017_066_(205_N._Church).jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Barera</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:McKinney_April_2017_066_(205_N._Church).jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968591","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q107321826"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/collin-county/crouch-perkins-house-87001691/"}
