Oak) in McKinney, Collin County, Texas, built in 1898 for U.P. Although many similarly detailed dwellings remain in McKinney, it is described as one of the most outstanding examples and remains virtually unaltered.","narrative":"Built in 1898 for U.P. Clardy, this one-and-a-half-story frame house at 315 Oak Street in McKinney reflects the vernacular domestic building of the turn of the century. It has an asymmetrical plan, weatherboard siding, a gable roof with box eaves, and wood double-hung windows. A six-bay hip-roofed porch wraps around the north and east sides, trimmed with turned-wood posts, squared balusters, jigsawn brackets, and imbricated shingles in the gable end. The house sits in a neighborhood of mostly late 19th-century homes about eight blocks northwest of downtown. Many similarly detailed houses survive in McKinney, yet this one is regarded as among the most outstanding examples, and it remains virtually unaltered. In 1910 T.A. Parris, later Collin County Treasurer from 1922 to 1926, bought the property. It was recognized as part of a citywide group of McKinney historic resources for its architectural character and its well-preserved original appearance.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne style influences (vernacular)","criteria":[],"status_note":"Condition is listed as good and the house remains in residential use; it is described as virtually unaltered.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.33539-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/89/9685/40968589/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/87001679.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001679/2688360d95-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001679/2688360d95-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Geeklet42","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:315_N_Oak,_McKinney,_TX.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Geeklet42</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:315_N_Oak,_McKinney,_TX.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968589","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000750"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/collin-county/clardy-u-p-house-87001679/"}
