Beverly. The architect or builder is unknown.","why_significant":"The house is considered one of the most outstanding examples of the many L-plan houses in McKinney. Its finely crafted woodwork, including jigsawn brackets and porch details, sets it apart from other L-plan dwellings in the city. It is also tied to Warren T. Beverly, a prominent local attorney and later district judge.","narrative":"Built in 1886 at 604 Parker Street in McKinney, this one-story frame house follows an L plan and is clad in weatherboard siding under a gable roof with box eaves. A five-bay porch on the east side has chamfered wood posts, turned balusters and ornate compound jigsawn brackets, and a hipped bay window with cornice molding and paneled sides adds further detail. Warren T. Beverly, who erected the house, was a prominent local attorney. He served as county attorney from 1882 to 1888 and was appointed Judge of the 59th District Court in 1903. In 1902 he sold the house to Louisa Harris, sister of E.W. Kirkpatrick, who lived nearby. Her descendants owned it until 1961. Although many L-plan houses stand in McKinney, this one is regarded as among the most outstanding, chiefly because of its finely crafted woodwork. It sits in a neighborhood of mostly late nineteenth-century houses southwest of downtown.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"L-plan dwelling","criteria":[],"status_note":"Recorded in good condition and in residential use at the time of the 1985 survey.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.645297-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/63/9685/40968563/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/87001661.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001661/cfb3dfedf1-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001661/cfb3dfedf1-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BeverlyHarrisHouse1.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BeverlyHarrisHouse1.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968563","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110022607"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/collin-county/beverly-harris-house-87001661/"}
