The reviewer accepted it under Criterion C for architecture.","narrative":"Located at 308 N. Washington on an older residential street two blocks east of downtown Bryan, this 1 1/2-story frame house dates to about 1901. It has a modified L-plan, weatherboard siding, and a hip roof with gables covered in composition shingles. A curvilinear nine-bay porch with a shed roof wraps around the east and north elevations, with turned-wood posts, squared balusters, and a panelled jig-sawn frieze. Other details include cutaway corners with jigsawn brackets on the front wing, twin gable ends with art glass windows and imbricated shingles, a clipped gable with brackets, a square projecting bay, and sunburst motifs at the porch roof ends. The house was probably built for W.W. Harris or Mrs. Julius Zimmerman. Minnie Zimmerman owned and occupied it from 1901 until her death in the mid 1930s. It was listed for architecture because it is considered one of the most intact examples of a modest Victorian dwelling remaining in the city. The architect and builder are unknown, and the house remains residential and in good condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Modified L-plan (Victorian)","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present condition is listed as good, and present use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.329724-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/69/9684/40968469/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/87001650.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001650/9580dcf518-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001650/9580dcf518-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ZimmermanHouse1_(1_of_1).jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ZimmermanHouse1_(1_of_1).jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968469","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000748"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/brazos-county/zimmerman-minnie-zulch-house-87001650/"}
