Washington in Bryan, Texas, this 1 1/2-story frame house follows a modified L plan. It has drop siding, a hip roof with gables covered in composition shingles, and box eaves with jig-sawn pieces added to the gable-end fascia. Windows are wood-sash double-hung units with two-over-two lights. A six-bay hip-roofed porch wraps around the east and south elevations, supported by turned-wood posts and squared-wood balusters, and an interior brick chimney with corbeled caps sits off-center on the roof. The house is in one of Bryan's oldest residential neighborhoods, a few blocks east of downtown. It was listed for its architecture. The modified L-plan dwelling was common in Bryan from the late nineteenth into the early twentieth century, and although many examples survive, this one is described as among the most outstanding and intact. Tony Saulsey owned and occupied it in the late 1930s. The house remains in residential use and good condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Modified L-plan","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Condition listed as good; present use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.836498-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/67/9684/40968467/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/87001643.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968467","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110001736"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/brazos-county/sausley-house-87001643/"}
