Ennis in Bryan, Texas, dates from about 1930-1931 and was designed by local architect Olin Sanders, Jr., for the family of J. M. Jones. It has an asymmetrical plan, brick exterior walls, a gable roof with composition shingles, wood casement windows with eight lights, an interior brick chimney and an attached garage. The tudor-arched entry, with a solid wood door and stone voussoirs, is nicely detailed, and the gable end has a half-timbering effect. The house sits in a development of the 1920s to 1940s southeast of the original town site and remains in residential use in good condition. It was listed for its Tudor Revival architecture and for its link to Jones, who led the Range and Animal Husbandry division of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service from 1918 to 1947. In that role he helped develop the Santa Gertrudis cattle line on the King Ranch and helped found the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Sanders, Olin, Jr.","architectural_style":"Tudor Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as in good condition and still in residential use at the time of the survey.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.54972-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/17/9684/40968417/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/87001634.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001634/e74fe25865-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001634/e74fe25865-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 4.0","author":"Larry D.
