The building is also tied to Frank Case, a pioneer in dental furniture manufacturing, and to a factory once billed as the largest in the world devoted to that product. It is one of the three best surviving Tilden Romanesque buildings.","narrative":"Built in 1896 at 2206 13th Street NE in Canton, Ohio, this brick factory was designed by Guy Tilden, described as Canton's most prominent architect, for Frank Case. Case was a pioneer in making dental furniture, and at one time the plant was billed as the largest in the world devoted to that product, with agencies in London and Melbourne. In 1937 the Harvard Company merged with the Weber Dental Manufacturing Company. The complex is dominated by a Romanesque tower with a heavy rock-faced sandstone first story, brick upper stories, chamfered corners, corbelled parapets, a battlemented roofline and slender arched windows. Some tower windows have been replaced or infilled. The one-story factory has a low roof with exposed rafters and arched windows with decorative brick trim. It is considered one of the three best surviving Romanesque buildings by Tilden, alongside Trinity Lutheran Church and the Case Mansion. It remains in industrial use, though in fair condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Guy Tilden (architect); builder unknown","architectural_style":"Romanesque Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Used as a factory/warehouse; interior and exterior in fair condition; described as endangered by neglect in a deteriorating mixed-use neighborhood.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.556325-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/87001194.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001194/08bcbe412c-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001194/08bcbe412c-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"User:Roseohioresident","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harvard_Company-Weber_Dental_Manufacturing_Company.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Roseohioresident</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harvard_Company-Weber_Dental_Manufacturing_Company.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71986206","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weber_Dental_Manufacturing_Company","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5676330"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/stark-county/harvard-company-weber-dental-manufacturing-company-87001194/"}
