The builder and architect are unknown.","why_significant":"The farmhouse is argued to be a distinctive, intact, text-book example of rural Greek Revival architecture in Rhinebeck, with a remarkably intact interior. Together with the barns, guest cottage, dam and stone walls, the farm illustrates the evolution of a working farmstead and the town's growth as a prosperous agrarian community.","narrative":"Set at the end of a long private road off Enterprise Road in northeastern Rhinebeck, this 109-acre farmstead centers on a one-and-one-half-story Greek Revival farmhouse built around 1835. The five-bay, center-hall house has clapboard siding, broad corner pilasters, exaggerated cornice returns, a wide frieze pierced by eyebrow windows, and a trabeated entrance with sidelights and a transom. Inside, two parlors flank the center hall, and the original woodwork, staircase and floors survive. The property also holds a guest cottage from about 1900, several late nineteenth-century barns, a dammed pond and dry-laid stone walls, along with a few modern outbuildings that do not contribute. It was listed because the house is an intact rural example of a nationally popular style, and because the surviving farm buildings and setting show how a working farm developed over time. The name comes from P. Williams, who occupied the house in 1850. The builder is unknown.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1835-1900","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Farmhouse in good to excellent condition and still used as a residence; part of the land is used for horses and for displaying outdoor sculpture.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:45.702993-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/87001080.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001080/b7a3284cef-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87001080/b7a3284cef-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Daniel Case","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Williams_Farm,_Rhinebeck,_NY.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Case</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Williams_Farm,_Rhinebeck,_NY.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312612","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_Farm_(Rhinebeck,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8021016"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/dutchess-county/williams-farm-87001080/"}
