It is one of several two-winged versions of the three-bay gable-front form, a common rural farmhouse plan. It is also associated with Dr. Joseph Braman, a prominent nineteenth-century local physician who occupied it at some point.","narrative":"Built in the 1850s in the crossroads hamlet of Braman Corners in Duanesburg, this two-story, three-bay frame farmhouse sits on a random-course stone foundation. Its gable end faces the street, and it has prominent cornice returns, a wide frieze and broad corner pilasters. The side entrance has a full entablature, a deeply recessed doorway, sidelights and a transom light. Small one-story wings flank the main block, and a one-and-one-half-story wing extends to the rear. A nineteenth-century frame carriage house on the .7-acre lot also contributes to the property. The house is valued locally as a representative vernacular Greek Revival dwelling, one of many three-bay gable-front houses in Duanesburg that remain substantially intact and one of several with two wings, a common rural farmhouse plan. It is also tied to Dr. Joseph Braman (1792-1885), a physician, teacher, store owner, farmer and school commissioner who lived there at an unknown time. The house remains a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular Greek Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Used as a residence, as originally; condition listed as excellent, with no known threats.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:45.715956-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/87000917.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87000917/28c8a534b6-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87000917/28c8a534b6-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Vicki Cammer","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Joseph_Braham_House_located_at_Brahman%27s_Corners,_Delanson,_Schenectady_County,_NY.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Vicki Cammer</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Joseph_Braham_House_located_at_Brahman%27s_Corners,_Delanson,_Schenectady_County,_NY.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314574","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Braman_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6281679"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/schenectady-county/braman-joseph-house-87000917/"}
