It also contains notable examples of Italianate, Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival architecture.","narrative":"Two blocks of South St. Clair Street in Toledo hold a compact district of brick and stone buildings, set apart from the rest of the city by an interstate, rail lines and a highway. Nineteen buildings stand on six acres, eighteen of them contributing. The most prominent is Ss. Peter and Paul Church, completed in 1873, whose 165-foot spire was added in 1880. Beside it are a Romanesque Revival school finished in 1905, an Italianate convent, Queen Anne commercial blocks and a Colonial Revival apartment building. The area was platted in Oliver's Divisions in the 1830s to 1850s and settled mainly by German working families, followed by a Swiss community that built Swiss Hall in 1924. From the 1920s Spanish-speaking residents of Mexican and Texan origin arrived, and the street remains a focus of Toledo's Hispanic community. The district was listed for its ethnic heritage, urban development and architecture.","period_of_significance":"1866-1925","architect_builder":"Multiple - See text","architectural_style":"Italianate, Romanesque Revival, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Classical Revival and commercial styles","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Condition is described as good to fair with some alterations; 18 of 19 buildings contribute, and buildings are in commercial, religious, institutional and residential use.","vacant_flag":null,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:15.143914-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/87000465.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71990017","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":null},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/lucas-county/saint-peter-and-saint-paul-historic-district-olivers-second-addition-87000465/"}
