It serves as the centerpiece of a Picturesque-inspired cemetery landscape designed by E.O. Schwaegerle. It was also the only stone building built in Brooklyn Centre before annexation.","narrative":"Set at the end of a broad processional boulevard inside Riverside Cemetery on Cleveland's Pearl Road, this small chapel was completed in 1876 in the Victorian Gothic style. Its walls are rock-faced sandstone ashlar under a slate gable roof, with buttresses, pointed windows, and a large stone porte cochere topped by a stained glass window. Inside is a single open space with a small platform at the west end, and a partial basement with a rear entrance. The chapel matters for its design and its role in the landscape. When the cemetery opened, the office building had not yet been built, so the chapel was the main architectural focal point of a Picturesque-inspired plan by designer E.O. Schwaegerle. It resembles other Ohio cemetery chapels, though its stone porte cochere is rare. It was also the only stone building put up in Brooklyn Centre before annexation to Cleveland. The form records it as vacant and in fair condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"E.O.
