Baxter, a housewright who most likely constructed it himself. He bought one acre of cleared land from Alvan Crocker that year, after selling his earlier homestead. The L-shaped house is clad in clapboards and trimmed with corner pilasters and a full entablature. Its pilaster-framed entry sits on a forward-projecting wing that faces the street with its gable end, flanked by windows with projecting lintels. A one-story porch on slender columns runs along the side wing, whose roof carries a large gabled dormer. A bay window on the south side is probably a later addition, and a rear ell and a barn complete the property. Baxter lived here until his death, and the estate sold the house in 1918. It is valued as a well preserved, detailed example of Greek Revival design in a modest cottage form, with good integrity and no major alterations recorded.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Charles L.
