It is also presented as a representative example of a simple mid-19th century institutional building. It is argued to meet criteria A and C.","narrative":"Liberty Hall is a modest village hall on Main Street in Marstons Mills Center, Barnstable, built in 1859 in the Greek Revival style. The 1 1/2 story building has a gable roof, corner pilasters and an entablature. Large windows with projecting lintels hold 12/12 sash, the gable window holds 6/6, and the entry sits in a one-story enclosed porch angled off one corner. A stock company of village residents erected the hall, a pattern typical of Barnstable. The name Liberty Hall appears in a Barnstable Patriot item from 1866. Open-front horse sheds used by both the hall and the neighboring church stood well into the 20th century. In the 1890s the Dramatic Club of Marstons Mills used the hall, and most village activities needing space took place there. The Methodist Church renovated it in 1945 for use as a parish house, then bought it and sold it to the Men's Club in 1960. It was renovated again in 1985 and remains in good condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Condition described as good; renovated in 1985; present use institutional.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.847635-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/16/7891/63789116/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/87000246.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87000246/1b39ebe3ba-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/87000246/1b39ebe3ba-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Kenneth C.
