It credits Leo M. J. Dielmann, a prolific San Antonio architect of institutional, ecclesiastical and residential buildings in South Texas, with the design. The church is described as an imposing Romanesque Revival sanctuary and was his only commission in Victoria.","narrative":"Our Lady of Lourdes Church is a brick Romanesque Revival church at 105 N. William, at the east end of downtown Victoria, Texas. Completed in 1923, it rises two stories over a raised basement and follows a basilica plan under a gable roof of clay tile and composition shingle, with pyramidal towers at the front corners. Polychromatic brick and stone detailing emphasizes the semicircular arched doors and windows, while projecting pilasters stress the height of the end walls and bell towers. Stained glass windows and a largely intact painted and stencilled interior remain. The church was designed by Leo M. J. Dielmann, a prolific San Antonio architect of institutional, ecclesiastical and residential buildings across South Texas. His European studies and experience leading the family construction firm shaped the design, and this was his only commission in Victoria. A modern education wing built after 1935 stands on the lot and is considered non-contributing. The church remains in religious use and is in good condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect Leo M. J. Dielmann (spelled Deilmann in one place); contractor A. W.
