O'Connor.","why_significant":"The house is considered an excellent example of historical layering: an Italianate Victorian dwelling later remodeled in the Neoclassical Revival style in the early twentieth century. It is also associated with Thomas M. O'Connor, a prominent banker who built ranch holdings of over 500,000 acres after the Civil War. The reviewer recommended listing for architecture and historic association.","narrative":"Built around 1885 at 303 South Bridge in Victoria, Texas, this two-story wood-frame house began as an Italianate Victorian home for Thomas M. O'Connor, a prominent banker who assembled ranch holdings of more than 500,000 acres in the years after the Civil War. In the early twentieth century it was remodeled in the Neoclassical Revival style, and the result is regarded as an excellent example of historical layering. Its seven-bay symmetrical facade features a two-story pedimented portico with paired acanthus-capped columns on masonry piers, a recessed entrance with a leaded fanlight, and a denticulated cornice with brackets. A one-story north porch has fluted wood posts and a turned balustrade. A lateral ell, a concrete-block carriage house-garage and two small frame outbuildings accompany the house. It remains in good condition, still serves as a residence, and is still held by the O'Connor family. Its significance rests on its architecture and its link to a leading cattleman and banker.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Victorian eclectic; Italianate remodeled in Neoclassical Revival style","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Present condition is described as good, with early 20th century stylistic changes; still used as a residence and remains in the O'Connor family.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.032109-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/23/9705/40970523/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/86002587.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002587/e8d02d06e3-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002587/e8d02d06e3-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 4.0","author":"Larry D.
