Goodwin in Victoria, Texas, this 2 1/2-story wood-frame house was commissioned by attorney Guy Mitchell, a partner in the law firm of Proctor, Vandenberge, Crain and Mitchell who also served as district attorney of the 24th judicial district. Architect Sam H. Dixon designed it, and Fred Urban built it. The house is described as an outstanding and quite rare local example of Georgian Revival architecture. It has weatherboard siding, a gable roof with box eaves, brackets and end returns, and an exterior brick chimney. Doric columns grouped in threes support a small entry porch with a curved roof, a detail repeated in the two dormers. A Palladian window is centered above the entry, which has a transom and sidelights. Windows are double-hung wood sash, some with shutters. A one-story, two-stall carriage house or garage remains on the lot. The house is in good condition and still serves as a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect Sam H.
