It describes the house as a virtually unaltered example of an early twentieth-century vernacular residence. The imposing two-tiered porch on the facade is called particularly noteworthy.","narrative":"Built in 1911 at 202 N. Wheeler in Victoria, Texas, this two-story frame house is a well-preserved example of early twentieth-century vernacular residential design. Architects Praeger & Hull designed it, and Bailey Mills served as contractor. The rectangular house has weatherboard siding, a hip roof with composition shingles and box eaves, and an interior brick chimney on the east side. Windows are wood sash, double-hung with one-over-one lights, and have operable shutters. The most prominent feature is the three-bay, two-story porch across the west facade, with tapered box columns and squared balusters on the upper level. Two single doors with transoms open onto the porch, and a single-bay porch covers an entry on the south side. The house stands on its original site in a residential area in the northeast part of the original townsite. It remains in residential use and in good condition. It was recognized because it is virtually unaltered and has a notable two-tiered porch.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architects Praeger & Hull; builder/contractor Bailey Mills","architectural_style":"Vernacular dwelling","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as in good condition and still in residential use; additional supports have been added to the second level of the porch.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.655726-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/44/9704/40970444/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/86002536.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002536/91b58bac11-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002536/91b58bac11-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"ProfReader","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:202_N_Wheeler_Street.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">ProfReader</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:202_N_Wheeler_Street.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40970444","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasin_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7687252"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/victoria-county/tasin-house-86002536/"}
