Marvin in Waxahachie, this two-story frame house reflects the bungalow style that was popular across the city in the 1910s and 1920s. Businessman R. K. Erwin had it constructed for his son, J. R. Erwin. The house has weatherboard siding, a gable roof with composition shingles and exposed rafter ends, wood double-hung windows, and an interior brick chimney. A one-bay gabled porch with turned wood posts spans the south elevation. Multiple roof planes, strong horizontal emphasis, triangular brackets, short tapered porch piers and extended rafter ends are all features typical of bungalows. It was judged one of Waxahachie's best and most intact examples of the type. In 1924 Stewart Moore, proprietor of Moore Hardware, purchased the house. It remains in good condition and is still used as a residence. It was included in a survey of the city's historic resources in the mid-1980s.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Unknown; built for J. R. Erwin by R. K.
