It also housed the post office and federal government offices for almost fifty years. The reviewer recommended acceptance under Criteria A and C.","narrative":"Built in 1911-13 at 210 E. Constitution in Victoria, Texas, this three-story building with a basement served as the city's post office and federal government offices for almost fifty years. James Knox Taylor was the supervising architect, and San Antonio contractor Otto P. Kroeger built it. Structural concrete forms the frame, covered with brick and stone veneer under a clay tile hip roof. Renaissance Revival details include a symmetrical five-bay south facade, recessed brick coursing on the first story, brick quoins marking the corners and central bays, and paired stone columns supporting a triglyph-decorated entablature over a one-story portico. Windows are wood casements with multiple lights and have stone surrounds and wrought-iron railings. Interior surfaces, decorative elements and hardware are generally intact. After a new federal building opened on South Main Street in 1961, the old structure was used for storage, living quarters and offices. It is recognized for its architecture and its role in local government.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"James Knox Taylor (supervising architect); contractor Otto P.
