The reviewer accepted it under criterion C.","narrative":"This house at 501 E. Church in Victoria, Texas, is a one-and-a-half-story wood-frame dwelling, dated by estimate to 1870. It follows a hall-and-parlor plan with a rear ell and has weatherboard siding, a gable roof with box eaves, and exterior brick chimneys on the east and west ends. The symmetrical four-bay north facade has two centered single doors, each sheltered by a gabled single-bay porch. Box columns with molded capitals support the porches, and a denticulated frieze runs along their east and west sides. Windows are mostly six-over-six wood sash, with one-over-one sash upstairs and twelve-over-twelve sash on the north elevation. The house was recognized for its architecture. The porch dentils, the capital moldings and the scale of the upper-story north windows point to late Greek Revival influence on an otherwise vernacular, two-room house with a rear lean-to. It stands in a residential area in the southeast part of the original townsite and remains in residential use.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular dwelling with Greek Revival details","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Listed as in residential use, both originally and at the time of the inventory.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.282106-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/32/9704/40970432/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/86002459.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002459/aad60cc0f9-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002459/aad60cc0f9-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"ProfReader","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hiller_House_(E._Church_St).JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">ProfReader</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hiller_House_(E._Church_St).JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40970432","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q140167454"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/victoria-county/hiller-house-86002459/"}
