Marvin in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas, dated to 1897. It sits in a mostly residential area north of the central business district.","why_significant":"The house is described as one of Waxahachie's best unaltered examples of the L-plan house type, which was built locally in significant numbers and variety from the 1880s to about 1910. It was built for W. B. Reinmiller, who operated a paint store in town. A reviewer called it locally significant architecturally as a once-prolific vernacular type.","narrative":"Built in 1897 at 206 E. Marvin in Waxahachie, this one-story L-plan frame house represents a house type that was once common in the city. It has weatherboard siding, a gable roof with composition shingles, and wood double-hung windows with two-over-two lights. The main entrance is a single door with a transom, and a three-bay shed-roofed porch runs across the north elevation, with turned wood posts, squared balusters and jig-sawn brackets. Jig-sawn bargeboards and porch trim add decoration. The house was built for W. B. Reinmiller, whose name was also spelled Reymuller, and who operated a paint store in Waxahachie. His family owned the property until the 1940s. Local builders produced L-plan houses in significant numbers and variety from the 1880s to about 1910, and this example is regarded as one of the best that remain unaltered. It was listed for its architectural value at the local level. The house is in good condition, with additions at the rear, and remains residential.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"L-plan (traditional vernacular house type)","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Condition is listed as good, with rear additions; present use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.244008-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/90/9689/40968990/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/86002444.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002444/bc3cd4706e-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002444/bc3cd4706e-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WBReinmiller1.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WBReinmiller1.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968990","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000641"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/ellis-county/reinmiller-w-b-house-86002444/"}
