It is also an excellent example of the quality housing built by Stamford's middle class in the town's first decade.","narrative":"This small frame cottage at 610 E. Oliver in Stamford, Texas, was built between 1900 and 1913 and is dated about 1907. It has a hipped roof, a raised rubble-stone footing, composition shingles and boxed eaves. Its most striking feature is a monumental Greek Revival porch with a gabled pent roof, two groups of three square wooden columns, a simple balustrade, two square pedestals and a Palladian-style lunette in the tympanum. Two doors sit to either side of the porch, and between them a classically detailed window with recessed lights and columns takes the place usually given to an elaborate entrance. The house was recognized at the local level for its architecture. Such heavy, costly classical elements are not normally found on a small middle-class or even working-class home, which makes the house atypical. It is also representative of the quality of building in Stamford's early decades, giving its owner more of an image than a plain cottage or bungalow. The house is in an older residential neighborhood and is described as altered but in good condition.","period_of_significance":"c. 1907","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival porch on a frame cottage with hipped roof","criteria":[],"status_note":"Described as altered but in good condition, in an older residential neighborhood.","vacant_flag":null,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.677622-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/38/9697/40969738/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/86002394.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002394/13840b681e-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86002394/13840b681e-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:610_East_Oliver1_(1_of_1).jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:610_East_Oliver1_(1_of_1).jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40969738","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110001248"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/jones-county/house-at-610-east-oliver-86002394/"}
