It is also presented as a fine example of the eclectic early twentieth century work of Hamilton architect Frederick G. Mueller.","narrative":"Hamilton Catholic High School is a two-story tan brick building at 533 Dayton Street in Hamilton, Ohio. Completed in December 1923 to designs by local architect Frederick G. Mueller, it replaced a nineteenth century mansion that had housed the school since 1901. The design is mainly Second Renaissance Revival, with Northern Italian influences and some Spanish Colonial Revival details, including a central octagonal tower on a hipped roof. A 1930 addition completed an elongated H plan, and a 1957 addition filled the rear courtyard. The school drew boys from all of Hamilton's Catholic parishes and was run by the Brothers of Mary. The nomination describes it as the earliest central Catholic high school in the region, and possibly the first in the country. The high school closed in 1966, and the building later served as a grade school until 1980. It was then bought by an insurance company and rehabilitated into offices, with the original side stairways kept.","period_of_significance":"1900-","architect_builder":"Frederick Mueller & Walter Hair","architectural_style":"Second Renaissance Revival with Northern Italian influences and some Spanish Colonial Revival elements","criteria":[],"status_note":"Occupied and in excellent condition.
