It also shows Richardsonian Romanesque and Ruskinian Gothic touches. It reflects Newton Corner's growth as a prosperous, fashionable suburb of large estates.","narrative":"This large house at 770 Centre Street in Newton Corner sits on about 2.2 acres in an area of big suburban estates. Dating to about 1885 by stylistic analysis, it is a two-and-one-half-story building with a steeply pitched hip roof, walls of random dressed fieldstone, and trim and belt courses of red sandstone and terra cotta. A triple portal marks the entrance, and a polygonal bay with a half-timbered gable sits to the right. Its design draws on the quasi-Medieval side of early Queen Anne architecture, shaped by John Ruskin, with Romanesque details recalling H.H. Richardson and tall panelled chimneys. Masonry was seldom used for houses in this style, which makes it a rare local example. The land was once part of the estate of mill owner and congressman John Wiley Edmands. The house was probably built by Henry Pazolt, a Boston cigar merchant, and from about 1886 the Prescott family owned it. In 1954 it became part of the Carroll Center for the Blind, and it now holds condominiums.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect unknown; probably built by Henry Pazolt, a Boston cigar merchant","architectural_style":"Medieval Revival (quasi-Medieval manner of early Queen Anne)","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present use is residential condominiums; condition listed as excellent; not moved.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:02.356669-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/0/7911/63791100/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/86001866.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86001866/9af7c637d1-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/86001866/9af7c637d1-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 2.0","author":"Thomas Kelley from Boston, MA","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prescott_Estate,_Newton,_Massachusetts.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Thomas Kelley from Boston, MA</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 2.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prescott_Estate,_Newton,_Massachusetts.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63791100","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prescott_Estate","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7240844"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/prescott-estate-86001866/"}
