It is tied to the early landowning Hollingsworth family. The reviewer accepted it under Criteria A and C, noting that Criterion B was not well justified.","narrative":"Near Turkey in eastern Sampson County, this 80-acre farmstead is built around the county's only known surviving two-story log house. The log core was built about 1785 to 1800 for Zebulon Hollingsworth, a Revolutionary War militia veteran, on land from his father Henry, an early large landholder. Soon after the Civil War the house was moved about 400 yards to its present site and enlarged with a west room, a center-hall plan and an engaged porch. Interior log walls with full-dovetail notching were refinished and exposed in 1967. Around the house stand roughly two dozen older outbuildings, including two log smokehouses, a six-stall barn, two packhouses, a family cemetery and an unusual group of three connected tobacco barns found nowhere else in the county. Sycamores, oaks, cedars and catalpas shade the grounds. The property was recognized for its farm complex, its link to the Hollingsworth family and its rare early log construction. It remains in the family's hands as a working farm.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"unknown (log section built for Zebulon Hollingsworth)","architectural_style":null,"criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Occupied by the owner's family and still an active farm; condition marked excellent.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:57:50.3192-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/1/7184/47718401/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NC/86000547.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/47718401","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollingsworth%E2%80%93Hines_Farm","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q19880292"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/north-carolina/sampson-county/hollingsworth-hines-farm-86000547/"}
