No. 27 is a two-story, L-shaped fire station of hard-fired brick at the corner of Cahuenga Boulevard and De Longpre Avenue in Hollywood. Completed in 1930 to designs by city architect P. K. Schabarum, it was described at the time as the largest firestation west of the Mississippi. Its Italian Renaissance Revival features include a rusticated first story with three arches, terra cotta friezes, and a tile hipped roof. Inside are a pressed tin coffered ceiling, brass firepoles, and upstairs living quarters. The company it houses began as Hose Co. #7 after Hollywood's 1910 annexation to Los Angeles, and became Engine Co. #27 in 1913. Local leaders lobbied to place the new station on this site. It was dedicated in March 1931, remains in active use, and has survived without noticeable alteration. The City's Cultural Heritage Board designated it a landmark in 1976.","period_of_significance":"1900- (specific date 1930)","architect_builder":"P. K.
