It uses local limestone, simple rectangular massing, a gable roof and a three-bay facade with a center entry. The mid-nineteenth-century side wing with a Greek Revival entry and the rear ell reflect the farm's continued prosperity.","narrative":"Set in a hollow below road grade at the corner of Rosiere Road and Route 12E, this farmhouse in Cape Vincent was built of irregular coursed rubble limestone about 1839 or earlier. The main block is one and one-half stories with three bays, a gable roof and an open porch with square columns across the front. A one-story limestone side wing has a Greek Revival doorway with thin sidelights, and a clapboard ell extends from the rear. Two nineteenth-century frame barns with board and batten siding stand on the hill nearby. The house matters as one of the best intact examples of the vernacular masonry farmhouses of the region, built from local limestone in a simple, symmetrical form. The wing and ell, added in the mid-nineteenth century, reflect the farm's prosperity. The land was once tied to Count Pierre Real, and later owners included Reuter Dyer, Peter Reff Jr. and the Docteur family. The interior retains original floor boards and hand hewn timbers.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular limestone farmhouse with a Greek Revival style doorway on the side wing","criteria":[],"status_note":"Described as in good condition and currently used as a seasonal residence and antique store; the surrounding land is farmland, but the property itself is not in agricultural use.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:44.885576-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/85002462.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75313246","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reuter_Dyer_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7317624"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/jefferson-county/dyer-reuter-house-85002462/"}
