It is also significant in politics and government because three generations of the Yeager family held prominent local offices in Perrysburg Township and Wood County.","narrative":"Built around 1840 on a small knoll just west of the former Wood County courthouse site, this two-and-a-half-story wood frame house in Perrysburg was originally a farmhouse. Its temple-style Greek Revival form includes a shallow pediment with cornice returns, a recessed doorway with sidelights and pilasters, and a distinctive triangular window with tracery. Inside, a walnut stair rail with tapered balusters is the finest woodwork, and many original doors, windows, moldings and basement steps remain. Among roughly nine fine Greek Revival buildings in the Perrysburg and Maumee area, it is described as the only one largely unaltered since construction. Its design appears to draw on published builder's guides by Asher Benjamin and Minard Lafever. The house was also home to four generations of the Yeager family, including a county commissioner, a county treasurer and mayor of Perrysburg, and two Perrysburg mayors, which supports its political significance.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899","architect_builder":"Unknown; builder not identified because of a gap in county records from 1833-1851","architectural_style":"Greek Revival (temple style)","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Described as in excellent condition, sound and almost unaltered; a private residence at the time of nomination.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:15.249102-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/85000619.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/85000619/a213d627a4-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/85000619/a213d627a4-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:John_J._Yeager_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:John_J._Yeager_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71992054","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q113960807"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/wood-county/yeager-john-j-house-85000619/"}
