Potter. It shows his developing style, which combined transitional Queen Anne and Colonial Revival motifs with rectangular, generally symmetrical forms. It is one of only five intact, documented examples of his transitional residential work in the city.","narrative":"Built in 1893 at 126 Warren Street in Glens Falls, this rectangular, 2½-story frame house was designed by local architect Ephraim B. Potter, with Hiram Krum as builder-contractor, for the widow of a prosperous grocer. It sits on a rock-faced limestone foundation. The first story has narrow clapboards, and the upper stories are covered in wood shingles. A steeply pitched hipped roof, two tapered brick chimneys and a large cross gable define its profile. The south front is dominated by a raised porch with a bracketed pediment and an open attic-level gallery, both carried on turned Tuscan columns. A two-story service wing extends to the north. The house is valued as an intact early work by Potter, who was among the most prolific architects in the city during its period of greatest wealth and expansion. It combines lively Queen Anne details with restrained, symmetrical forms, and it is one of five intact examples of his transitional residential work in Glens Falls.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Ephraim B.
