The vernacular Federal farmhouse is the only surviving 1½-story, five-bay example to keep its original fenestration, door detailing and siding. The farm also keeps relatively intact outbuildings and its historic setting, and it is tied to the Wing family, prominent Quakers in the town.","narrative":"This 106-acre farm on Route 30 in southwest Duanesburg centers on a farmhouse built about 1820. It is a one-and-one-half-story, five-bay frame dwelling in a vernacular Federal style, set on a limestone foundation and sheathed in clapboard. Details include a gable roof with cornice returns, a narrow frieze, slender corner boards, brick end chimneys with exposed firebacks, and a central entrance with pilasters and half-sidelights. A pedimented porch was added in the early twentieth century, and a rear wing was attached later. Seven nineteenth-century outbuildings, three small sheds and four large barns, all clapboard with gable roofs, complete the complex. The farmhouse is the only surviving Federal-period house of its type in Duanesburg to keep its original windows, door detailing and siding. The farm's setting is largely intact and still agricultural. The property is also linked to the Wing family, prominent Quakers who settled around Quaker Street and farmed across the town. It remains a private residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular Federal","criteria":[],"status_note":"Farmhouse still used as a residence; condition listed as good, with no known threats.
