Its locally quarried limestone walls follow the form of local frame farmhouses of the period. The intact group of nineteenth-century outbuildings and the historic farm setting add further significance.","narrative":"Built around 1836 on Barton Hill Road in Duanesburg, this two-story farmhouse is constructed of field dressed, random ashlar limestone, probably quarried on the property itself. It is the only surviving stone house in the town. The five-bay, center-hall plan, gable roof, narrow cornice, brick interior end chimneys and fluted entrance molding with a transom light reflect the Federal style as interpreted in the area's frame farmhouses. Alonzo Macomber, born in 1806, moved to the property, known as the Lime Kill lot, in 1828 and acquired it in 1836 from his father-in-law, shoe manufacturer Nathaniel Wilber. After 1856 he lived in a Greek Revival house in the Quaker Street Historic District. Members of the Hoag family occupied the stone house in the late nineteenth century. The 99.5-acre farm also includes three nineteenth-century frame barns, which together with the open agricultural setting contribute to its significance. A concrete garage added to the northeast side is not considered contributing.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular Federal","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as a residence, as originally; condition described as good, with no known threats.
