It is one of only three notable local examples of a \"two-thirds\" room-hall plan house with the gable end turned away from the street. It also keeps an intact set of nineteenth-century outbuildings and its historic farm setting, and it is the only historic resource in Greens Corners to retain integrity.","narrative":"Set on a 29.9-acre working farm along Route 159 in the hamlet of Greens Corners, this clapboard farmhouse was built around 1857 for Joseph Green, grandson of early settler Robert Green. It is a two-story, three-bay frame dwelling with a gable roof, prominent cornice returns, a wide frieze and broad corner pilasters. The front entrance has a full entablature, sidelights and a transom, though it is now boarded up and the house is entered through a one-story rear wing. Inside, local \"keyhole\" window architraves reflect the Greek Revival style. The house uses a \"two-thirds\" room-hall plan with the gable end turned away from the street, a form found in only three notable examples in Duanesburg. Two large barns, a garage and a small shed from the nineteenth century survive. Together they preserve the historic farm setting. The Green family once ran a blacksmith shop, woolen factory and school here, and this house is the only historic resource in the hamlet that retains integrity.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Described as in good condition and still used as a residence; the original front entrance is boarded up and the house is now entered through the rear wing.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:43.533432-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/84003209.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314558","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Green_Farmhouse","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6283569"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/schenectady-county/green-joseph-farmhouse-84003209/"}
