Six frame outbuildings accompany it.","why_significant":"The farmhouse is a representative example of mid-nineteenth century rural vernacular architecture in Duanesburg. It is a rare local farmhouse that blends late Greek Revival forms with Italianate details. The intact set of nineteenth-century outbuildings and the surviving historic farm setting add to its importance.","narrative":"Built around 1850 on Creek Road in Duanesburg, this two-story, three-bay farmhouse sits on a 113.4-acre farm north of Esperance Station. Its low-pitched hipped roof carries a cupola, and the frame house has side and rear wings. Wide frieze boards, broad corner pilasters and a trabeated side entrance reflect the Greek Revival style, while the cupola, modillions, lintels, projecting bay window and round-arched double doors show Italianate influence. Most rural farmhouses in the town stayed close to plain vernacular traditions, so this blend is rare within the area. The house follows a three-bay, side-hall plan like many mid-century Greek Revival farmhouses nearby. Six contributing frame outbuildings, including barns and sheds, stand on the property along with a pond, and the whole farm was nominated to preserve the historic agricultural setting. The house remains a residence, and the surviving collection of nineteenth-century farm buildings adds to its significance.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late Greek Revival with Italianate influence","criteria":[],"status_note":"Still used as a residence; condition rated good; no threats known.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:42.324434-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/84003114.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314582","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becker_Farmhouse","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4878660"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/schenectady-county/becker-farmhouse-84003114/"}
