It is also linked to the locally prominent Farnum family. The form states it meets criterion C.","narrative":"Built in 1821 on Albee Road in Uxbridge, this brick house is a local example of Federalist design. It rests on a hammered granite foundation under a steep hip roof with two interior chimneys. The south facade is laid in Flemish bond and is symmetrical around a center entry with sidelights and a blocked elliptical fanlight. Windows have brick surrounds with splayed granite lintels, the cornice carries fret moulding, and a half-hip porch with fluted pilasters shelters the door. Some changes occurred between the 1940s and 1960s, including replacement sash, a new front door and removal of the original porch columns. The house is associated with William and Mary Farnum, who owned it in the later nineteenth century, and probably with the Farnum family descended from Cornet John Farnum, a founder of Uxbridge, and Moses Farnum, a local Quaker. It is valued as a surviving example of Uxbridge's high-quality early nineteenth-century Federalist brick houses.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Federalist","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as a present residence in private ownership, with replacement sash and door and removed original porch columns (1940s-1960s).","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.446377-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/91/7930/63793091/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/84002914.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002914/816d199311-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002914/816d199311-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"4 Albee","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:4_Albee_Road_easterly_view.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">4 Albee</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:4_Albee_Road_easterly_view.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793091","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_and_Mary_Farnum_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8020729"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/farnum-william-and-mary-house-84002914/"}
