It is valued for its early design and for its link to nineteenth-century local industry, including a harness shop. It is said to meet criteria A and C.","narrative":"Built around 1744 at 45 Green Street in Stoneham, this Colonial house is a two-story, five-bay structure with a center entry, a pitched roof and a granite foundation. A one-story ell extends from the south side. Twin rear wall chimneys are usually associated with the later Federal period, so they may come from an early nineteenth-century remodeling. Shingles replaced the original clapboards in the twentieth century, and the 6/6 windows and door have simple architraves. The house was first owned by the Locke family, whose land reached to Bow Street and beyond. In 1867 Micah B. Baldwin, a saddler and harnessmaker who came back to Stoneham after the Civil War, bought it and used the south ell as a harness shop. Earlier occupants probably ran a shoe shop there. The house is listed as one of Stoneham's few well-preserved eighteenth-century dwellings and the only one with a known shop ell, and for its early design and its ties to nineteenth-century trades.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Used as a residence, as it was originally; the nomination form records no major alterations or moves.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.529734-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/14/7921/63792114/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/84002742.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002742/e1f948651e-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002742/e1f948651e-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:StonehamMA_LockeBaldwinKinsleyHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:StonehamMA_LockeBaldwinKinsleyHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63792114","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locke%E2%80%93Baldwin%E2%80%93Kinsley_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6665336"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/locke-baldwin-kinsley-house-84002742/"}
