It retains integrity of location, design, setting, materials and workmanship. It is also associated with a local shoe manufacturer. It is listed under criterion C.","narrative":"Built in 1874 at 1 Winthrop Street in Stoneham, this two-story Italianate house was the home of John Jones, a shoeman. It has a three-bay facade with a center entry flanked by bay windows, a pitched roof with twin interior chimneys, and clapboard siding with narrow corner boards, a frieze and a raking cornice. Windows have simple frames and 2/2 sash, and a porch with a decorative rail connects the two bay windows. The house faces south at the intersection of Wright and Warren streets in a quiet late nineteenth-century neighborhood. It was listed because it is Stoneham's best preserved example of the traditional Italianate form. The gable-roofed, tripartite bay-front house type appears in several versions around town, and this is the best preserved. The form records no major alterations, no outbuildings and no move, and finds that it keeps its integrity of location, design, setting, materials and workmanship. The architect is unknown.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present use is residential; the form reports no major alterations, no outbuildings and no move.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:57.524331-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/92/7909/63790992/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/84002708.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002708/f51a2c2dfb-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002708/f51a2c2dfb-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:StonehamMA_JohnJonesHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:StonehamMA_JohnJonesHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63790992","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jones_House_(Stoneham,_Massachusetts)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6242059"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/jones-john-house-84002708/"}
