Thomas Lincoln. The architect is unknown.","why_significant":"The house is described as one of the most sophisticated Federal-style buildings remaining in Taunton, with a particularly fine entrance surround. It is also associated with Thomas Lincoln (b. 1759), a businessman, property owner and military figure who served in the Revolutionary War and was appointed Brigadier General in 1809. The form cites integrity of design, location, setting, materials, workmanship and association.","narrative":"Built in 1805 at 104 Field Street in Taunton, this Federal-style farmhouse was constructed as the residence of Thomas Lincoln, born in 1759. Lincoln was a businessman and property owner, but he is best remembered for his military career, which included service in the Revolutionary War and appointment as Brigadier General in 1809. The main block is two and a half stories, five bays wide and four deep, under a gable roof with close-cropped eaves and a central chimney. Its most prominent feature is the doorway, which has a leaded semi-elliptical fanlight between tapered pilasters and a dentilated cap molding. Windows are six-over-six sash with plain wood surrounds. The house is clad in clapboards, has no outbuildings, and has not been altered or moved. It was listed because it is a well-preserved and, for Taunton, fairly sophisticated Federal-period farmhouse, and because it was the home of a prominent local citizen and military figure.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Federal","criteria":["B","C"],"status_note":"Present use is given as a residence; the form says the building has not been altered or moved.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.24879-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/19/7895/63789519/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/84002162.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002162/cd7f8008f0-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002162/cd7f8008f0-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Marcbela (Marc N.
