It is also possibly associated with the Hodges family, prominent settlers of Oakland. It is judged to have integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship and association.","narrative":"Built around 1850 at 41 Worcester Street in Taunton, this clapboard residence is a Greek Revival Classic Cottage of one and a half stories. Its facade has five symmetrical bays, and the entrance is framed by pilasters supporting an entablature that encloses narrow sidelights. The same motif appears at the corners of the house, where pilasters carry a roof entablature. Two-over-two sash windows are used throughout, and a small recessed wing of the same height extends from the main block. The house has not been altered or moved, and a modern garage is the only outbuilding. It was listed because it is regarded as the best preserved example of a fully developed Greek Revival cottage in Taunton, retaining all of its period details and its integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship and association. It may also be tied to the Hodges family, prominent settlers of the Oakland area. The nominated boundary covers the house and twelve feet of land around its foundation.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival (Classic Cottage)","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Still used as a residence; the form reports no alterations and no move, and notes a modern garage outbuilding.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.957162-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/3/7893/63789303/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/84002130.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002130/58e1743421-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84002130/58e1743421-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TauntonMA_HodgesHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TauntonMA_HodgesHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63789303","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodges_House_(Taunton,_Massachusetts)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5876104"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/bristol-county/hodges-house-84002130/"}
