It is the only known joint residential project of architects Marion L. Waller and E. Stanley Field. It was also long the home of Lawrence C. Elliott, a nationally prominent aviation figure.","narrative":"Built in 1912 for Fort Worth physician Dr. Clay Johnson, this two-story brick house sits on Chase Court, a private tree-lined street laid out in 1906 south of downtown Fort Worth. Architects Marion L. Waller and E. Stanley Field gave it a flat roof, rosy Thurber brick walls and extensive molded concrete ornament. The design joins a sturdy Prairie Style core with bold, almost Mannerist Beaux Arts details, including a bracketed porch cornice and a balustrade with Islamic-style openings. Inside are a wide reception hall, mahogany pocket doors, original chandeliers and a sweeping staircase. A garage with servants' rooms and a child's playhouse are also part of the property. The house is the only known joint residential commission of Waller and Field. Later it was the home of Lawrence C. Elliott, an aviation pioneer who worked on airway beacon lighting and served as a regional Civil Aeronautics official. Few exterior changes have been made over the years.","period_of_significance":"1900-","architect_builder":"M.L. Waller and E.S.
