The original house dates to the late 18th or early 19th century and was remodeled in the late 1840s.","why_significant":"The nomination presents it as a representative early nineteenth century farmhouse overlaid with rare mid-century picturesque \"cottage\" details. It was also the seat of three generations of country physicians, the Moores and Bealls. Its architectural evolution and family records make it one of the best-documented early houses in the county.","narrative":"Beallmont is a small two-story frame farmhouse on a gentle rise near the Yadkin River in southern Davidson County, surrounded on three sides by old boxwood borders planted in heart-shaped and geometric patterns. The core is a Federal hall-and-parlor house built in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century, probably by Dr. Robert Moore or his son Ebenezer. In the 1840s Dr. Burgess Lamar Beall, a physician and legislator who married Ebenezer's daughter, remodeled it. He added a latticework porch, a polygonal bay window, new chimneys and Greek Revival interior woodwork, and a nearby log house was moved to form the rear wing. The Federal parlor mantel was kept. A brick smokehouse, a rare building type in the county, still stands behind the house. The property is valued as a typical early farmhouse with unusual picturesque styling and as the seat of three generations of country doctors. It remains in the family's hands.","period_of_significance":"1700-1799, 1800-1899","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Federal house remodeled in the mid-nineteenth century picturesque \"cottage\" style with Greek Revival interior woodwork","criteria":["B","C"],"status_note":"Occupied as a private residence by descendants of the Beall family; the form lists condition as good and the site as original.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:57:50.731102-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/37/7176/47717637/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NC/84001991.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/47717637","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beallmont","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18357132"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/north-carolina/davidson-county/beallmont-84001991/"}
