It is part of the Augspurger Amish/Mennonite Settlement thematic group. The reviewer called the statement of significance weak but accepted the property under criteria A and C.","narrative":"Built between 1865 and 1870, this two-story brick farmhouse near Trenton in Butler County, Ohio, follows the I-house form and reflects Amish Mennonite building traditions. Peter Schrock, a minister in the Augspurger church, bought the land in 1864. He was an immigrant from Nancy, France, and arrived in Butler County in 1830. His son, Peter Jr., was living on the farm in 1875. The house has two front doors, a two-bay porch of cut-out wood, 6/6 windows with shutters, a dentillated frieze with paired brackets, and quarter-fan attic windows. Inside, plain wide woodwork and simple mantels remain, and the downstairs parlors have fireplaces flanked by cupboards. A brick smokehouse stands to the rear. Because nearby subdivision, a new driveway, a garage and an altered barn weakened the farm setting, only the house and smokehouse were included. The property was accepted for its example of Amish Mennonite house building and its link to the settlement's history.","period_of_significance":"1865-70","architect_builder":"Built by Peter Schrock; architect and contractor listed as unknown","architectural_style":"I-house form; Amish/Mennonite house type","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Interior and exterior condition listed as excellent; the original bank barn was torn down in 1982 and the surrounding land has been subdivided for development.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.815785-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/84000210.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84000210/31da80d25c-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/84000210/31da80d25c-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Peter_Schrock_Jr._Farmhouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Peter_Schrock_Jr._Farmhouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71984477","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Schrock_Jr._Farm","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7176820"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/butler-county/schrock-peter-jr-farm-84000210/"}
