Williams in 1855. It has a two-storey front section, a 1½-storey rear ell, and a small barn.","why_significant":"The nomination calls it one of Uxbridge's best-preserved examples of Greek Revival architecture. It also has historical ties to the Williams family, who farmed large parts of northwest Uxbridge in the nineteenth century. It is held to retain integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship and feeling.","narrative":"This house on Rawson Street in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, dates to about 1845-1855 and is regarded as one of the town's best-preserved Greek Revival buildings. It sits on a hilltop surrounded by fields and second-growth woods. The clapboard house rests on a rock-faced granite foundation and has a two-storey front section with a 1½-storey rear ell. Panelled pilasters at the corners support a wide continuous cornice, windows hold 6/6 sash in moulded frames, and the symmetrical facade centers on a pilastered entry with sidelights. Two more entries on the east side have moulded stiles and corner blocks. Maps show N. Williams as owner from 1855 to 1870. He was probably a farmer from the Williams family, which held extensive farms on what was then called Williams Hill. By 1898 the property belonged to Ellen M. Clark. Its listing rests mainly on its intact Greek Revival design.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present use is as a residence.
