It is also tied to Dexter Richardson, one of the two wealthiest men in Uxbridge in the mid-nineteenth century, a landholder, speculator and farmer.","narrative":"This farmhouse on South Street in Uxbridge dates to about 1800-1810 and is described as a local example of late Georgian vernacular design. It has two storeys, a central chimney and a one-storey ell on the east side. The south facade is symmetrical, with a panelled door framed by fluted pilasters under a heavy moulded pediment and a five-pane transom. First-floor windows have wooden caps imitating splayed lintels, and second-floor windows rise into the cornice. Aluminum siding was added in the 1970s, but the main features survive. A barn with a mid-19th-century cupola and a garage stand nearby in a rural setting of woods and fields. The house is linked to Dexter Richardson, a land speculator and farmer who was among the two wealthiest men in Uxbridge around 1850, with wealth mostly inherited from his father. It probably was built for an earlier owner, possibly a Taft relative. The property stayed in the Richardson family until at least 1898.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"late Georgian/Vernacular","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present use is residence; aluminum siding was added in the 1970s, but the house retains its major architectural features.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.460624-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/19/7931/63793119/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/83004128.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83004128/e966bbe4d4-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83004128/e966bbe4d4-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UxbridgeMA_DexterRIchardsonHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UxbridgeMA_DexterRIchardsonHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793119","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_Richardson_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5268439"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/richardson-dexter-house-83004128/"}
