It is also associated with Charles Capron, a textile manufacturer from the locally prominent Capron family. The form states it retains integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship and feeling, and meets criteria A, B and C.","narrative":"Built between 1874 and 1879 at 2 Capron Street, this clapboard house is regarded as Uxbridge's finest example of Victorian Gothic residential design. It rises two and a half stories from a dressed granite foundation under a mansard roof with dormers. The symmetrical facade has a central entry with paneled double doors, flanked by two bay windows joined by an open porch with elaborate Gothic ornament. A matching two-storey stable with jerkinhead gables and a central cupola was built at the same time, and the grounds keep many original Victorian plantings. The house was built for Charles Capron, born in Uxbridge in 1841, a third-generation member of a prominent manufacturing family. He ran the Capron Woolen Company, brought telephone service and electricity to the town through a small power plant he maintained, and held several public offices, including town clerk, treasurer and selectman. The property's intact design and its link to Capron explain its listing.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Victorian Gothic","criteria":["A","B","C"],"status_note":"Still used as a residence, as originally; no major alterations apparent.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:57.852218-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/7/7936/63793607/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/83004111.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83004111/bfabd57ef0-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83004111/bfabd57ef0-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"C.S.
